St. John's Episcopal Hospital South Shore Transforms Workflow With NovaRad's NovaPACS and NovaRIS
Hospital Anticipates Rapid Return on Investment From RIS/PACS Installation |
| |
|
American Fork, Utah - July 25, 2007 - A transformation in workflow - meaning a faster, more efficient process - is how St. John's Episcopal Hospital (SJEH) in Far Rockaway, N.Y., describes the change the hospital's imaging services has seen with the installation of NovaPACS in May. Its NovaRIS installation is scheduled to be complete this summer.
SJEH selected NovaPACS after comparing it with several other PACS. Allowing doctors to see images from anywhere was the main selling point for SJEH from a diagnostic point of view, said Patricia Gillespie, administrative director of imaging services at St. John Episcopal Hospital. The installation, training and go-live dates all took place within a 16-day period.
"We chose NovaPACS primarily because of its strong reputation in the industry, its hundreds of successful installations and its plan for disaster recovery," said Gillespie. "We plan on it being a very positive return on investment, especially with the savings we will realize by eliminating film and paper."
Additionally, SJEH was impressed by the robust capabilities of NovaRad's NovaRIS and NovaPACS and the good working rapport the NovaRad staff maintains with the hospital. NovaPACS fills the 332-bed community teaching hospital's needs by allowing many procedures, including radiography, ultrasound, CT Scan and echocardiograms, to be available for viewing through NovaPACS server.
The systems will eliminate manual order entry and enhance tracking, scheduling and reporting. Gillespie says other benefits of using NovaPACS include decreasing the amount of storage space, increasing turnaround time and the archiving capabilities that NovaRad makes available to all NovaPACS systems users. SJEH is also training all attending and resident physicians to use the NovaPACS system.
NovaPACS is a fully featured, scalable PACS offered by NovaRad Corporation that is being used in hospitals and diagnostic centers across the globe. NovaRIS is a Web-based, open standards RIS that generates reports, analyzes exams, measures profitability and facilities paperless management of patient records.

NovaRad Offers Embedded MIP and MPR Tools in NovaPACS 6.6 To Streamline Image Reconstruction
Fingerprint Log-on Also Now Available |
| |
|
American Fork, Utah - February 23, 2007 - NovaRad Corporation releases NovaPACS 6.6 with embedded MIP (maximum intensity projection) and MPR (multiplanar reconstruction) tools to build and view 3-D images directly from the PACS workstation.
Traditionally, post-processing reconstructions are not completed on the PACS, but at a proprietary workstation at or near the modality. The MIP and MPR tools embedded in NovaPACS eliminate the need for radiologists to do post-processing reconstructions from the modalities and for technologists to redo reconstructions specified by the radiologists. Radiologists can now quickly reconstruct any study they want in any format they want right from NovaPACS.
"NovaRad recognizes improving workflow is a big challenge so we're continually upgrading our software to make radiology departments even more efficient," said Paul Shumway, senior vice president at NovaRad Corporation. "These new features save time and money since reconstruction time for both techs and radiologists is significantly reduced."
Additionally, BIOPOD, a HIPAA-compliant fingerprint touch login solution is now available for NovaPACS and its companion radiology information system, NovaRIS. The secure touch login eliminates the need for passwords and frees IT department personnel from managing password requests and changes, freeing them to work on other IT tasks.
